Description:
A beautiful Chas Lancaster Oval Bore black powder double rifle in the fairly common 450 BPE 3 1/4" cartridge. Very good condition overall. This is Lancaster's famous "slide and drop" action. Very tight and on face. 28in. Damascus barrels with lovely damascus patterns evident. Good shiney oval bores (some spotted pitting ahead of chamber). Back action locks with incredibly lovely and unique hammers. Much case color remains on locks and action. LOP = 14 3/8in.to unique steel butt plate. wgt = 8 lbs. 12 oz. Beautiful stock wood with classic Lancaster style large diamond checkering. Stock has a few serious dents in it. Somewhere in its history someone cut 2 dovetails in the top rib one has a slot blank in it the other does not.These were probably for mounting a scope (ugh!). This rifle is pictured in George Hoyems book on British cartridges. More pix available. Please add $100 for shipping and insurance to contiguouos states.
