Westley Richards 318 Accelerated Express Bolt Rifle - Cased w/ Accessories - SN: 359xx. Cal: .318 Accelerated Express. Very early gun (1905?) with orginal 180gr bullet weight markings on receiver top, but have proofs for 250 grain bullet on bottom of barrel. 26" sport taper barrel with hooded front sight and one standing, 3 leaf express rear sight w/ platinum centerlines and marked "200, 300, 400". Island base front sling eye. Mauser 98 action with matching serial numbers. Buffalo horn bolt knob nicely checkered on single quarter panel. Beautiful English walnut stock with border shadowed cheekpiece and slim tapered buffalo horn tipped forestock. Three very small brass reinforcement pins located at stock/action webs to repair hairline crack in internal rear webb (appears fully stabilized). 14 1/4" LOP over steel buttplate with flip open trap. Gold initial oval uninscribed. Sling eye on bottom toe line. Original stock with matching serial number stamped in barrel channel. Cased in original Westley canvas and leather full length case with trade label and green baize cloth lining. Outer top leather label marked "J.G. PRIESTLEY" (renowned English writer??). Numerous paper travel labels affixed. Accessories include one box of Kynoch 318 ammunition, cleaning funnel, cleaning patches, empty oval tin. coated two-piece cleaning rod.
Condition: Gun is in excellent overall condition as London quality refurbished. Bore is excellent, bright and strong rifling. Rust blue is excellent overall. Wood retains all of its London oil finish. Small repair to top quadrant of initial oval. Case is very good, structurally sound. Handle broken as pictured.
