Short CIVIL WAR Antique U.S. CONTRACT 1861 MUSKET

Here we present an antique U.S. Contract Model 1861 Musket, made in 1863 by James D. Mowry of Norwich Arms Co. of Norwich, Connecticut. This musket was used in the American Civil War, then sold on the surplus market. It has been shortened. The lock is marked “1863” and “U.S./NORWICH”. Butt plate is marked “US” and “A/41”. Breach is marked with “V/P/Eaglehead”.
Surfaces are bright. Stock is solid and smooth. Bore is bright, clean and sharp. Action is very strong.
