Description:

HOLLAND&HOLLAND ROYAL HAMMERLESS EJECTOR PAIR OF 12 BORE SHOTGUNS. SN: 27646/7

We have here a very rare and unique pair of very fine Holland Royals. Holland records indicate the guns were made in 1914 for Mr. Bernard Lambe. The original 28” barrels (Bond Street address) were proofed at 2 ½” and choked .008/.018.

The guns were subsequently purchased by Mr. R.S. DuPont. Mr DuPont, according to Holland records, returned the guns to Holland in 1973 where new (separate) leather cases were made along with another set of barrels. Then again, in 1989, he purchased another set of barrels for each gun. The initials R.S. DuP. appear at the bottom of each stock and on the front of each case.

The extra barrels for the #1 gun are 28” and are proofed at 2 ¾” and are choked .000/.030 and .008/.008. The extra barrels for the #2 gun are also 28” and proofed at 2 ¾” and are choked .010/.022 and .038/.038. Both barrels are marked with Holland’s Burton Street address. There is one forearm for each gun.

Dimensions of the gun are very nice with 15” LOP’s to the front triggers and a neutral cast. DAC is 1 ½” and DAH is 2 3/8” for both guns. There are cocking indicators on the beautifully engraved sidelocks. Weight of each gun is 6 ½ pounds.

Notwithstanding the provenance and unique barrel arrangements, the most notable thing about these guns is their condition. The guns appear to be totally original and show little or no use. In fact, the lugs on the 2nd and 3rd barrels are still wrapped in tape (we assume from the factory) and show no signs of having been mounted on the guns.

Whether you are purchasing these fine guns as an investment or you are planning on shooting them (or both!), they are offered at quite a value at $97,500 which, in their condition, represents a significant discount to the price of a new pair in a similar configuration.

The price includes a pair of Holland&Holland leather/fleece lined gun sleeves.

This firearm is from the Oliver-Brice collection. The principal owned a private equity investment firm in Switzerland which allowed him to travel extensively in the UK and Europe. His passion was finding and researching high quality/investment grade British and European double shotguns. His collection is extensive and includes a number of unique firearms like this one. The owner would consider a trade of a fine/collector watch as he is a collector of those as well.
