Description:
Here's a VERY nice pair of Grants with the very attractive and functional side levers in a sidelock ejector arrangement. All cased in its original oak and leather case with case cover. Guns were originally made in 1886 and were rebarreled by the maker in the late 1990's as confirmed by maker's letter and records.

Gun #1: Right barrel is .727 bore with a choke constriction of .008. Left barrel is .727 with a choke constriction of .021. The barrel blueing is rubbed on top of the barrels near the muzzle from what is apparently case wear.

Gun #2: Right barrel is .bored .735 with a choke constriction of .007. Left barrel is .738 with a choke constricton of .020.

There is a small hairline stock crack in the #1 gun as described in a letter (we have) from the well known stock maker Paul Hodgins. The letter was dated '07 and the guns have been used since then with no issues.

These guns were originally built for Sir Greville Smith Bart of Ashton Court, Bristol and we have several pages of history and provenance for the original owner which makes interesting reading.

Here's a really unique pair of guns with great history and provenance and with a modern set of barrels which will give the owner many years of shooting enjoyment. There are a few little scuffs and dings but nothing you wouldn't expect of a pair of guns this age.

This firearm is from the Oliver-Brice collection. The principal owned a private equity investment firm in Switzerland which allowed him to travel extensively in the UK and Europe. His passion was finding and researching high quality/investment grade British and European double shotguns. His collection is extensive and includes a number of unique firearms like this one. The owner would consider a trade of a fine/collector watch as he is a collector of those as well.
