Payment Types Accepted: Visa,Master Card, Discover,Check Description: This is a nice representative example of the famed German K98 Mauser battle rifle. This K98 was made in 1943 at the Gustloff Werke plant in Weimar, Germany. At some point during the war it was captured or surrendered and brought here to the States as a "war trophy". At that point it was likely all-matching except for the bolt and one of the bands. Somewhere along the line when these K98s were not valued by collectors, the G.I. decided to "sporterize" the original stock. We were able to find an original military stock stock to put this K98 in that restores it back to the original form it was issued in. The blue finish on all of the metal parts except for the buttplate is the factory original finish and is in good overall condition. The bore is excellent with sharp rifling and no pitting or erosion. While this rifle is not all matching, all of the parts are WW2 originals. The receiver and barrel assembly is serial number 5748w, and matches the triggerguard, floorplate, rear sight parts, and the lower barrel band. The bolt matches itself but has a un-numbered safety. The stock is a WW2 German "red glue" laminate with a cupped buttplate that came off of a Norweigan captured K98. It is in great shape and has a very attractive look to it. As you can see in the pictures, the Waffenamts were removed by the Norwegians and the buttplate was stamped with a Norweigan serial number. Everything on this K98 works 100% like the day it left the factory and looks exactly as it was intended to. We will include the original sporterized stock with this rifle as well. If you have been looking for a WW2 German K98 to add to your collection that you could shoot, this would be a perfect choice. It is an attractive rifle with NO import stamps and isn't a beat-up and laquered Russian Capture, it is an honest G.I. bring back that has been "saved" from sporterizing.
