Payment Types Accepted: Visa,Master Card, Discover,Check Description: Beautiful 1894 Deluxe Winchester extra lightweight, takedown rifle, fitted with a 22 inch rapid taper barrel, half tube magazine, Lyman ivory bead front sight in a dove-tailed ramp, 2-leaf express rear sight, Lyman tang sight with lock, sling swivel eyes for a hook sling, beautifully figured checkered walnut pistol grip stock with a hard rubber grip cap and shotgun butt-plate, matching figured checkered walnut forearm, and is chambered in .30 W.C.F. (30-30). What sets this gun apart is the large "W" stamp on the bottom of the takedown barrel band and on the link (see picture). This very rifle is pictured on page 399 of "The Winchester Book" by George Madis (1971) and it describes the gun as follows: "In the close-up photo, the large "W" may be seen. This letter, at times filled with red enamel, was often applied to guns furnished to exhibition shooters, and denoted ownership of the gun. The word "Winchester" usually on the side of the receiver, also was used on guns furnished to Winchester "Missionaries" by the company. Winchester at different times had a number of markings to show ownership by the company; a Large "W" also was marked in the stock". This 1911 vintage rifle is in very fine original condition, retaining 95% of its original blue on the barrel and magizine tube, about 60% on the receiver, and 20% on the takedown barrel band and forend cap. The lever and hammer retain traces of their original color case-hardened finishes and the grip cap and butt-plate are in very fine condition, with no cracks or chips. The bore is bright and the action functions perfectly. The takedown and action operate smoothly and the lock-up is tight on both. The stock and forearm retain most of their finishes, with assorted handling marks, but no cracks or chips. Note: There are 2 extra holes drilled and tapped, filled with plug screws, on the left side of the receiver, apparently for a receiver sight or scope mount of some kind. This 1894, configured as it is, is a very good looking gun. PRICE: $6,750 We are Antique & Modern Firearms in Lexington, KY, dealer of fine firearms since 1974.
