Description:
This is a Springfield Model 1903 made in 1903. The rifle would have been chambered in .30-03 and then rechambered to .30-06 Sprg in 1906. The rifle was then re-barreled on 3-11 (March of 1911) The rifle has a circle P proof behind the trigger guard and 2 cartouches one looks to be J.F.O. and the other E.L. ?. The metal finish is very good with the sharp edges being white and the rest a Gray/Blue. The rifle has a 2800 year rear ladder sight and a hooded front blade. This nice rifle also comes with a sling that is dated 1918 and inspected by W.D.C. The rifle is completed with a bayonet dated 1910 with a canvas covered metal scabbard. This nice rifle is more for collecting then shooting as the receiver may be soft as some early 1903 rifles were.
