Colt Factory Engraved Police Positive with pearl grips .38 Special caliber revolver. Made in 1910. Beautiful gun with the high luster blue. This gun is in excellent condition with 95%+ of the original blue. Bottom of the butt is engraved “B.P.D CHIEF” According to the letter, this gun was shipped to Beverly, Massachusetts and was shipped directly to the city of Beverly. This gun letters as both being factory engraved and inscribed with the “B.P.D CHIEF” inscription. Grips are pearl and fit perfectly and while the letter calls for pearl grips, we believe these to be replacements. This gun conforms to the letter with the exception of the finish; the letter calls for nickel, and this gun is blued. That being said, this is obviously a Case of a factory error and the blue finish is guaranteed to be 100% factory original. Great gun that should be researched further to see who the police chief was at this period.
