Blade in very good condition with old wavy temper line. Has some small spots of patina and needs cleaning. Unsigned iron tsuba dating to the period of the blade. Excellent Japanese Officer’s WW2 mounts with correct military leather scabbard cover. Brought back by a U.S. Army Warrant Officer who served from 1943-1947 in the 9710th TSU Chemical Warfare unit. At the end of the war this unit was sent to Hiroshima and Nagasaki to monitor the effects of the Atom Bomb and copies of pictures he took while there are included as well as one of he and members of his unit in Japan at the time. Also included are copies of his Discharge Compensation document stating his unit and dates of service, his record of Veteran’s Cemetery interment at Quantico National Cemetery. Also included is a copy of his Recruit Training Company 58A at Camp Fannin, Texas ca. 1943. SOLD |
