Description:
Serial #7519, .50 Caliber, 21 1/2" barrel with a fine, bright bore that has some spots of that start about 4" from the muzzle. The barrel has a smooth plum-brown patina with thin streaks of gray and an old added blue along its length. The frame likewise has a dark brown overall patina mixing with gray and also has areas of pitting on the sides of both barrel breech and frame. There are a few traces of original bright blue remaining on the barrel lock spring and the brass opener has a pale yellow patina. The sling bar has been removed. The walnut stock and forend have a dark added finish with scattered small handling marks and blemishes throughout; heaviest on the forend which has a chip missing from the left side. The buttstock was repaired and has been sanded and re-oiled with a series of small letter stamps on the sides of the wrist: "BM" on the left; "B" on the right. The barrel lock-up has a slight wiggle and the mechanism is fully functional. This is a very good looking Smith and would make a nice representative example for a collection. Antique
