Description:
The Winchester Model 61 was made from 1932 to 1963, with approximately 350,000 manufactured. These popular slide action rifles were fitted with a 24 inch round or octagon barrel, plain pistol grip stock, open sights, 2/3 length tube magazine fed, smoothbore or rifled barrel, and were chambered in .22 LR, .22 WRF, or .22 Magnum. This 1941 vintage Model 61 is as described and the rifled round barrel is stamped .22 S., L. or L.R. It is in very fine original condition, retaining 90%+ of its original blue finish, with most thinning on the muzzle of the barrel and on the portion of the barrel close to the receiver and magazine tube, due to rubbing by the forearm when cycling the action. The receiver has some thinning on the sharp edges and scattered spotting on the sides. The checkered steel butt-plate fits well and retains about 60% of its original blue finish. The bore is bright, with sharp rifling, and the action is tight and operates perfectly. The stock and forearm retain most all of their original finishes, with assorted handling marks.
