EGYPTIAN Antique REMINGTON Rolling Block Rifle
Late 19th Century Egyptian Police Rifle
Here we present an antique Remington No. 1 Rolling Block Rifle, made circa 1870 in Ilion, New York. The Rolling Block was just the ticket if you want a simple, durable, powerful, and relatively inexpensive rifle for your military in the late 1800s. Chambered for the stout .43 Egyptian cartridge, this single shot rifle is marked with the “EP/Crescent Moon” Egyptian acceptance mark. The top of the barrel is also marked. These rifles saw a long service life in a harsh environment.
The overall condition is good. The metal surfaces have a gray patina. The markings are clear. The walnut stock shows lots of handling and remains solid. The bore is bright with good rifling. The action is functional, though a little weak, nothing a new spring wouldn’t fix.
