Description:
NSN, 7mm Pinfire, 3 1/4" barrel with a very good, bright bore that has some minor freckling and mild pitting within the grooves. This is a handsome little unmarked revolver that has retained 70-75% of the original bright blue finish with the balance having a mixture of smooth plum-brown patina, and minor freckling. The gun is embellished with loose, floral scroll engraving in distinct vignettes on the frame, barrel, and cylinder. These vignettes are bordered by geometric gold wire inlays throughout, and traces of the original gold wash remain on the trigger. The sculpted hard rubber grips are in fine shape with deep relief vine motifs on both panels, and a few minor chips at the butt on both sides. The lock-up is still tight and the mechanism functions flawlessly. The revolver is housed in an English style traveling case with an ebony cleaning rod and a full box of 7mm pinfire cartridges. The case is in fine shape with an intact green baize interior that exhibits minor stains here and light wear. A small handwritten note accompanies the revolver that states that the revolver was, “Purchased in Algiers about 1878 by a cousin of F. Ashton Pratt". Faintly legible above that the card reads, “From Rep. Albert Wood of North Eastern 1947". The significance of this note is unknown. This is a very nice little pinfire that rates fine-near excellent condition overall, and would make a great addition to any collection. Antique
