Smith & Wesson Safety Hammerless 4th .38 S&W caliber revolver. Beautiful Smith & Wesson. 4th Model Double Action safety (New Departure). This revolver is in our opinion factory Smith & Wesson engraved and factory nickel plated but sent back for plating. There are no refinish marks or dates under the fine old pearl grips. The sideplate fits perfectly with no gaps or rounding or poor fit. Looks great. The engraving is very fine and sharp. The bore has very good rifling and has medium frost in the grooves. Trigger guard blue is perfect. The only reason we think this is factory refinish is the very lightest of polishing to the metal prior to plating that leads us to think it is a first class refinish. Really pretty Smith & Wesson.
