Description:
Winchester Model 1873 Lever Action Sporting Rifle .38wcf. The serial number of this example is 863XX placing date of manufacture in 1881-82. The Barrel and Magazine tube have retained amid of original factory rust blue and patina. I would rate the finish at 30% toned to a nice even patina. The bore is dark, however the rifling is present. The rifling looks strong and will rate a 7 on a 1 to 10 scale. A good scrubbing should bring it back even more. This rifle is was "Special order" factory Case Colored. The case is probably 95% full coverage faded to 75-80% bright. Case Colors are clear and undamaged. For some reason or another someone has placed the loading gate screw on the outside of the receiver and not on the inside? Loading gate has toned to a blue plum. The Action is tight, smooth and mechanically perfect. This 73 was ordered with a "Shotgun Butt" also retaining original untouched brilliant Case Colors. Very Rare second model in .38/40 with "Step Down Receiver". Priced right. Please phone Tommy at (760)-912-3761 or e-mail all questions and concerns. $35.00 shipping. Insurance will be additional.
