Description:
This is a classic High Standard Model W-104 Double Nine .22 revolver. The Double Nine (Model W-104) is a double action, 9-shot revolver with a swing-out cylinder. It is all-original and in very good condition overall. This 1960's vintage Double Nine comes with a 5.5" inch barrel and the original white plastic grips with inset gold High Standard medallions. The front sight blade is fixed but the rear sight is drift adjustable. This example came from the factory with a "blue" finish. All of the blued steel parts show some minor handling marks and light wear including a drag line around the cylinder, but nothing major. You can see what I described in the pictures and it does not take much away from the attractive overall appearance of this High Standard. The 5.5" barrel has an excellent bore with strong rifling. The barrel along with the cylinder bores are free from pitting or erosion. The remaining parts including the frame and grip straps are made of an alloy, and they have a factory blue/black finish. This finish is also in very good condition, only showing minor handling marks in a few places. Both the front and rear grip straps are excellent shape and do not show any thinning. The factory grips are in excellent shape as well. They are free from cracks or repairs, and they are tight to the gun. The gold colored High Standard medallions inlaid into each grip panel give the revolver a nice look. This Double Nine functions 100% like the day it left the factory. The action is "in time" and locks up tight with no play. In the single action mode of operation the trigger is particularly good and breaks cleanly. This Double Nine comes with a correct style box and all the inserts and paperwork, but the serial number on the end label of the box does not match the gun. If you have been looking for one of these classic revolvers from High Standard to add to your collection that isn't too perfect to shoot, but still nice enough to be an investment, this one would be the perfect choice.
