Description: This original - 45-70 Trapdoor - Springfield 1878 rifle has a round tapered 1" to 3/4" x 29-1/2" barrel fitted with an adjustable Buffington rear sight with a blade front sight. This rifle has an excellent bore. Metal finish is splotchy on the lock and breach block. The P grade Walnut stock is mounted with iron furniture, including sling swivels. Stamped on the top of the butt stock is 684. Forend has a few small scratches in it. Butt stock has an old repair next to the tang. The trapdoor breech block is dated US Model 1878. Stamped on the lock plate is US Springfield and the spread eagle. This rifle has a full length barrel with a cadet length stock. Over all length is 48-1/2", length of pull is 13-1/2" and weight is 8.6 Lbs. Good wood to metal fit - made by Springfield Armory. Condition: Good. Our stock number is #A639.
