Here is a pistol that has been overlooked by the collecting community . The Sauer 38H was made by the J.P. Sauer and Sohn company from 1938 - 1945 . It was made to compete against the Wather PP and PPKs . It is arguably a better design , yet sells for half what a military proofed Walther goes for . These pistols were issued to Police units , Luftwaffa , SS , SA , German paratroopers , everyone . Himmler liked to give engraved examples as gifts . Hitlers's personal bodyguard carried one .The pistol had a conceled hammer and unique decocking and cocking lever on the side , the design is still used by Sig - Sauer today . This pistol was made in April/May 1944 , it is eagle 37 acceptance front of trigger quard.It appears to have been shot very little , there is no wear on the slide rails , bore is perfect , the bullet guide ramp has no wear or marks. The clip is an early wartime clip with a zinc floorplate and the Sauer logo on the bottom . Chance to own a Waffenamt German Army pistol way below the price of a PP or P-38 in comparable condition .
