Description:
The S&W .455 Hand Ejector Second Model was made from 1915 to 1917, in the serial number range 5001 to 74755. They were manufactured for the British and Canadian Governments for use during WWI and were British or Canadian proofed stamped. This 1916 vintage example is proof stamped with both. It is fitted with a 6 1/2 inch barrel, fixed sights, checkered walnut grips with the attractive recessed S&W medallions, color case-hardened finished hammer and trigger, is high polish blue finished, and was originally chambered in .455. The gun has been converted over to the .45 Long Colt cartridge, and appears to have been professionally done. It retains 90-93% of its original blue finish and the hammer and trigger retain most all of their original color case-hardened finishes. The bore is bright and the action functions perfectly. The grips are in very fine condition, fit well, number to the gun (right grip has the serial number of the gun penciled on the inside), and have only a few minor handling marks.
