Slotterbeck made everything on his rifles himself including the lock, stock, barrel, and scope as is the case with this one. It shoots a .40 caliber picket bullet (so called because it's shaped very much like the top of a picket fence post), and was probably intended for 100 yard competition which was popular at the time. The octagonal barrel is 25 3/4 inches long, measures one inch across the flats and is stamped GAIN TWIST WART STEEL on the left and C SLOTTERBECK LAKEPORT CAL. on the right. There is no serial number. The overall weight is is 9 lbs. 1 oz. and it is quite muzzle heavy. It has double set triggers with a very light, crisp pull. Included are its leather bag, bullet mold, powder measure (made from an old Winchester 45/60 shell casing) and its bullet starter. Condition is excellent with an old refinish to the stock, and everything functions exactly as it should.
