Description:
A spectacular piece!  W.W. Greener hammerless (Facile Pinceps) 8 gauge.  Chambered 3-1/4".  Serial number 30832, built in 1885 (Antique).  Weight is a well-balanced 12 lbs. 6 oz.  "Plain" Grade.  The 36" barrels are choked .030" and .050".  The stock LOP is 14-1/4" and drops are 2" and 3".  The buttplate is solid steel with a stippled center.

The shotgun is in very good condition as the photos show.  All metal finishes are original and are about 75% or better.  The bores are good, showing light frosting.  There does look to have been a light hone in them at one time.  The forend finish is original with it's horn tip.  The buttstock is original with some finish added.  There is a small professionally done repair to the wrist area to fix a small crack on the rear sides of the tang.  See photo of this repair, the old damage is hardly detectable.  The finish and checkering was touched up in these areas.  The clocking slide on the barrel lug has also been replaced as the original was broken.

This shotgun is unique in that it was built on special order as per the inscription on the rib.  After the normal makers mark, it reads "ROYAL BLOOD W.H.L. BALTIMORE, MD."  The shotgun comes with a letter from Graham Greener telling of what information the company has on the gun. It confirms the grade, configuration, as well as the manufacture date.  And also notible Greener employees that worked on the gun.  However, there is no surviving order information available on the gun, so the identity of W.H.L. cannot be confirmed by Greener.  Research has not turned up what Baltimore resident, with those intitals, in that period had ties to a royal family and to which royal family.

This shotgun is an antique and can ship to the buyer with copy of photo ID.

Price is $10,000 plus shipping and insurance.  (SOLD)
