Description:
This is quite an interesting .22 rifle, a Husqvarna single shot bolt action that has been lightly customized and has had excellent optics added.  These .22 rifles were made by the Husqvarna firm in Sweden from approximately 1900 to the 1950's and were quite popular with the people there.  They were offered in a number of configurations including pistol grip or straight stock, bent or straight bolt handle, round or octagon barrel, and so on.  They were a simple but elegant design, with a small bolt and a thumb-operated safety located on the left side of the receiver.  They all came with iron sights with the rear sight having index marks stamped in the barrel for the elevator position relative to range, and no provisions for mounting optics.  This Husqvarna has been restored and is in beautiful shape.  The blue finish is in excellent condition and does not show any thinning or wear.  All of the factory stampings are sharp, clean, and legible.  The bolt which was left "in the white" from the factory and is serial numbered to the rifle, does not show any staining or discoloration and still looks bright.  The bent bolt handle has been altered by threading a brass-lined black polymer ball handle on the end of it for quick and easy cycling of the bolt.  The bore in this rifle is spectacular.  The rifling in this 24" inch barrel looks like it was cut yesterday.  The rifling has sharp lands and grooves in it, and there is no pitting, discoloration, or erosion whatsoever.  The previous owner told us that this rifle shot as well or better than any he had ever had, and judging by the bore condition we believe him.  The stock appears to be the factory original that has been restored and custom checkered.  The stock is very attractive and in excellent shape.  There are no cracks or repairs present, and the hand-cut checkering is still extremely clean and sharp.  The stock still has the original factory blued steel buttplate in place, and it is fit perfectly and tight to the wood.  Everything on this rifle works 100% like the day it left the factory.  The bolt works smoothly and locks up tight, the safety clicks on & off positively, and the trigger functions as designed.  The optics and custom mounting on this Husqvarna are superb.  The rifle has been fitted with a barrel-band "see-thru" front base and left receiver mounted rear base.  Both of these bases are rock solid and allow the use of the iron sights.  Mounted on these bases is a vintage Hensoldt-Wetzlar Diapi-D 2.5 power 17.5mm scope in a Hensoldt-Wetzlar tip-off mount made specifically for this scope.  This German-made scope is somewhat scarce and sought-after, and it is easy to see why.  The optics on this scope are amazingly clear, and they are completely free from scratches, chips, delamination, or fogging.  The reticle is the 3-post type popular in Europe and frequently seen on sniper scopes of the period.  All of the adjustments on this scope work perfectly and it will hold "zero" perfectly.  If you are a .22 rifle aficionado this Husqvarna single shot would be a great addition to your collection.  It should be very accurate, and would definitely be a conversation starter at the range!
