Description:
Fox Sterlingworth Deluxe 20 Gauge SxS
EJECTORS, 6LBS., HIGH STOCK DIMENSIONS, 70% CASE COLOR

General Specs: Fox, Year 1930, 20 Gauge, 5lbs 15oz, Side-by-side
Serial Number: 262517

There are many sellers that call their Sterlingworth a “DELUXE” simply because it has a pad on it (usually aftermarket with a cut stock) and ivory beads.  Most you see are Philly guns and simply cannot be a true “DELUXE”, as that catalogue offering was only available in 1930 or later with the new Savage Arms ownership.  This gun, sn262517 built in 1930, is a true Deluxe Sterlingworth, with its original Jotsam HyGun recoil pad and genuine ivory beads.  It would be considered a “transition” gun as it has the Philly style buttstock with the black hard rubber grip cap that is so much more desirable than the later Savage style butt stock with a pistol grip of rather square shape with no grip cap.  This fine Fox small bore is just the way I like to find one…96% factory blue on the barrels, 70% factory case color on the action, 90% factory charcoal blue on the trigger guard, perfect mirror bores, excellent screws, tight as new on hinge pin and breech face, and no cracks or repairs to the wood.  The wood is original to the gun and has been freshened up nicely, not overly done so as to look new, but handsome and clean with perfectly cut checkering.  BEST OF ALL, THE STOCK DIMENSIONS ARE 14 3/8” X 2 ½” X 1 ½” X 1/8” CAST OFF, a real find in the world of Sterlingworth guns that usually have 3” or more of drop at heel.  This is a VFI CERTIFIED GUN, meaning the action and forend iron have been stripped to their smallest parts, cleaned in the Ultrasonic cleaner removing all gummy oil deposits and dirt, each part inspected for proper function and integrity, and then properly lubricated and reassembled, making it good for another 20 years or so before needing any attention.  VFI CERIFIED GUNS carry a 90-day mechanical/shooting warranty so you can be sure the gun you are buying functions as it should.  Few Sterlingworth guns are found with ejectors, and you will not find another offered for sale now or in the near future that have the combination of factory condition, perfect mechanics, and modern stock dimensions.  With its 26” #3-weight barrels choked factory IC/F and weighing in at 5lbs. 15oz. and balanced dead on the hinge pin she is the perfect upland gun that will do well at the gun club shooting clay target games as well.  Priced to sell, so don’t hesitate on this one.  Where else are you going to find an ejector 20ga. Fox at a price like this???  Thanks for looking!
