Treble grip action (per the original order, a "top lever screw grip hammerless AnE action with Ejectors"), intercepting sears, removable disc strikers, profusely engraved with best bold acanthus scrollwork with a beaded border, maker's name within an elaborate cartouche. The shotgun barrel measures bore .732, choke .29, walls .022 with 2.5 inch chambers. Bores are excellent. Weight is 8-9. Highly figured 14.75 inch stock with cast off to a well engraved full steel butt plate. Pictures are attached. I can also send scan of history/letter from maker and photocopy of order from the maker's original ledger if you are interested. This best quality firearm has an interesting provenance. It was ordered by a Captain Speyer for Africa and delivered new to his designate in Cape Town (as is most appropriate for a cape gun!). The original case is in good shape but has likely been relined with a presumably new trade label. This is a beautiful gun offering a unique British side by side experience with readily available ammo. Gun compares favorably in build quality and aesthetics to nearly any double rifle or shotgun from the best British makers of the era.
