I have also written four books on Newton rifles and have interest in all models of those rifles. newtonrifles Description: This is a very rare First Model 1916 Newton rifle with an original 28 inch barrel in caliber .256 Newton. It is serial numbered 2200 in 10 places. Other factory options are a Newton designed bolt peep sight, sling swivels and a serrated butt plate. The wood has fancier grain than the average Newton rifle. There are no cracks in the stock wood. This rifle has an original extra screw in the forearm, probably to stabilized the extra long 28 inch barrel. There is a non-original blank in the rear sight dovetail as well as a non-original front sight. The top of the receiver has been drilled and tapped for a scope and the left hand side of the receiver has been tapped for a receiver sight and has a wood repair where the sight was once installed. The serrated butt plate has some pitting at the top of the plate. This rifle is pictured in 3 books; Newton Rifles, First Edition, Newton Rifles, Second Edition and The Newton Rifle Handbook.
