Original Model 1853 Sharps John Brown Carbine. Nice working action with plenty of bore and visible maker and patent marks. Stock is in good shape with some honest wear and tear. The brass hardware has a beautiful patina and iron has expected light pitting and dark patina. The spring hinge pin is broken but the action works perfectly and the pin stays lock in position. It has the distinctive angled breech block which is where the nickname comes from. This is the pattern of gun that was acquired by the famous abolitionist John Brown and used on his raid on Harpers Ferry. The ones known to have been used by him fall in the serial number range of 10,000 to 18,000. SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes Antique: Yes |
