Description:
L.C. Smith Specialty Grade 20 Gauge Side by Side
RARE 32” BARRELS, 98% FACTORY FINISHES, AWESOME!

General Specs: LC Smith, Year 1930, 20 Gauge, 6lbs 10oz, SxS
Serial Number: FWE 128140

I have the privilege of handling 1000's of fine shotguns every year. I love my job and I love L.C. Smith guns, the only successful sidelock of the vintage American double shotgun manufacturers. This is one of those special Elsie guns, with a feel between the hands that puts a smile on your face, the very RARE 32” barrels balancing this Featherweight framed gun 3/8” forward of the hinge pin to keep those barrels moving on crossing shots. This gun, snFWE128140 produced in 1930, is a gun that generates that smile. Weighing 6lbs. 10oz. this gun is a wand with its long barrels and small bores. There were only 1100 Specialty Grades produced in 20ga., and only 123 made with 32" barrels, so THIS GUN IS RARE. Add the condition of this gun, with perfect screws and wood to metal fit, all factory finishes on the metal with 95% vivid case color, 99% dark barrel blue, and 90% trigger guard blue, all parts original to the gun with the original fine figured wood having been cleaned up, you have a great find. You can still see the jeweling on the breech face of the barrels! The stock dimensions are great, and if you look at the photos closely you will see something you may not see again for decades…the factory pad is a petite, original, ¾” thick Hawkins pad, not the typical 1” thick pad. I have only seen two of these in my life. The shorter pad is much more pleasing to the eye and it is still soft to absorb recoil and to keep the butt of the gun firmly mounted to your shoulder. The LOP of 14 ¼” is measured from the rear trigger position, meaning the wood is long compared to the same gun with two triggers. Those of you that like long barrels realize how hard it is to find a 20ga. with 32” tubes, and this gun has the Hunter One Trigger and ejectors, great stock dimensions, and is gorgeous from butt to muzzle. From an investment standpoint, L.C. Smith guns are still under-valued, and are poised to spike right now. Parker has peaked in its growth spurt, Fox is in the middle of its rise to the top, and L.C. Smith is just beginning. Guns like this one, with unique features and low production, great shooting dimensions, long barrels in fine original condition, are great investments that will increase in value significantly in the next few years. WHAT A GREAT GUN! Thanks for looking.
