This was a shorter variant of the rifle of the same designation, being adopted in the 38th year of the Meiji calendar. It is light, short and handy. This one has the initials “N.D” carved large into the right side of the butt stock. The overall condition is very good. The original blue finish is 70%. The markings are clear. The chrysanthemum has been ground off per the Japanese ritual of surrendering arms. The stock shows honest use and is solid. The bore is fine. The action is excellent.
