Mummed WWII PACIFIC THEATER Japanese Type 38 Rifle
Arisaka by the Kokura Arsenal Circa 1940
Here we present a Japanese Type 38 Infantry Rifle, made circa 1939 at the Kokura arsenal. This rifle was an upgrade to the Type 30. This design was the project of Major Nambu, famed and prolific firearms designer in Japan. The Type 38 has been called the best service rifle of WWI. The design was perfected with the advent of the Type 99, nevertheless, the Type 38 saw plenty of action during World War II.
The top of the receiver is marked with an Imperial Japanese Chrysanthemum, a desirable feature to collectors as this marking was customarily struck off when surrendered or taken out of service.
The overall condition is very good. The original finish is 60%. The markings are clear and legible. The stock is dark and smooth, with some handling marks. The barrel bands and finger grooves of the stock have accents of silver paint. The bore is sharp and clean. The action is excellent. Here is a very nice Japanese rifle from WWII!
