Early 1900s “Lemon Squeezer” with Grip Safety
Here we present an antique Smith & Wesson .32 S&W Safety Hammerless Revolver, made circa 1907 in Springfield, Massachusetts. These were also known as the “New Departure” or the “Lemon Squeezer”, the latter due to the safety bar in the backstrap. This little revolver holds 5 shots of .32 S&W. It was designed to meet the defensive needs of citizens and law enforcement in the late 19th Century. This is a top break design with an automatic ejector, hammerless design and grip safety. These features made it great for pocket carry.
The overall condition is very fine. The original nickel finish is 95% intact. The original blue on the trigger guard is 80%. Case colors are still faintly visible. The markings are clear and legible. The original hard rubber grips are very good and featuring the iconic S&W logo. The bore is sharp and bright. The action on this revolver is excellent. A great little revolver that was used in the years preceding the Roaring Twenties!
