Description: Original New York engraved Smith & Wesson Double Action Model top break revolver, .44 S&W Russian cal., 6” barrel, uncleaned patina finish... New York style period scroll engraving on the barrel, cylinder, frame and back strap with about 80% coverage. The entire revolver is in untouched natural condition showing the 136 years of age, in color and appearance. Manufactured from 1881 until 1894 with a total production of approximately 53, 590 revolvers. This revolver is the First Model variation of the "Double Action" or New Navy No. 3. Mechanically fine, with a 6 out of 10 bore. This old hogleg saw heavy use for a exceptionally long time, and in the roughest areas of then the American Southwest Frontier.
