Description:
Colt 1851 Navy Revolver, and holster. A very nice Civil War era sidearm that was very likely privately purchased and carried into the War as most revolvers were at that time. Heavy wear to the Walnut grips, with no original finish remaining, the surfaces have a light gray-brown patina. Cocks and fires, cylinder rotates and locks up tightly for its age. Various dings and scratches. This Navy Colt comes with it's own Civil War holster, marked "E. Gaylord". Colt's serial number # 167858 was made in 1863, the barrel is marked:
“—ADDRESS COL. SAML. COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA—”.
Matching serial numbers. It is a very, VERY decent old Navy with a good solid action. Perfect for display, an honest gun and holster at an honest price.. $1795.
