Many knowledgeable double gunners, including the late Michael McIntosh, believe that Ansley H. Fox produced the finest proportioned 16ga. boxlock in America creating an extremely lightweight, well-balanced gun.  The Fox action is known to be of the simplest design, with the fewest working parts required to do the job at hand.  Simplicity, reliability, strength and petite dimensions created on a 20ga. frame.  It makes sense that custom gun makers would choose the Fox action and barrels as their basis for building a BEST BOXLOCK EJECTOR GUN.  We see them on Gunsinternational from time to time, with most being rather mediocre in execution and features.  Some are fantastic works of art, like many from Tony Galazan and his Connecticut Shotgun Manufacturing Co. that often exceed the $40,000 mark in price.  Here we have a well thought out masterpiece in this custom Fox, with 3 sets of barrels, 2 splinter forends, one beavertail forend, and 28”, 30”, and rare 32” barrels, all cased in an oak and leather case with a French fit interior.  The level of craftsmanship and gunmaker’s art is unsurpassable.  Engraved by Christian DeCamillis of Traverse City Michigan in a deep-relief vine style scroll with shaded background, pierced top lever, pierced trigger guard bow, barrel wedges engraved, and matching engraved heel and toe plates, the softly stated elegance is stunning.  This is not the typical custom upgrade that looks special at a glance but not so much under scrutiny, but one that incorporates all of the features of a BEST GUN, INCLUDING SCULPTED ACTION BACK, DOUBLE BEADED FENCES (think Parker AAHE), REBATED FRAME, HAND FILED SCULPTED BOLSTERS ON THE BOTTOM OF THE ACTION, AND THE FRAME FILED TO FIT THE ROUNDS OF THE BARRELS LIKE THE FOX XE.  The wood on this gun is EXHIBITION TURKISH WALNUT WITH FLOR-DE-LIS CARVINGS, RIBBON BANDS, AND AN EXTRA LONG FOREARM WOOD WITH AN EBONY SCHNABLE FOREND TIP.  THE BUTT IS FINISHED OFF WITH BEAUTIFULLY ENGRAVED SCALLOPED HEEL AND TOE PLATES.  Nothing was spared in the creation of this fine Fox.  The 28” and 30” set of barrels have a snap-on forend like the early graded Fox guns, and the 32” set has both a long splinter forend and a finely shaped beavertail forend, all matching checkering, of course.  The mechanics are superb with everything tight as new and well-tuned for serious shooting.  The chokes run a range that makes this gun appropriate for all your field sports and clay target games.  With a 15 ¼” LOP and 2 3/8” x 1 3/8” drops, ¼” cast off, this gun will work out for modern shooters.  We can adjust the stock dimensions to your needs quite easily here in our shop.  Last-but-not-least, the set is housed in a fine custom French fit oak-and-leather case for display and transport.  We are offering this gun at a price that is a fraction of the cost to reproduce in today’s world.  Search Christian DeCamillis, engraver, and you will find he is one of America’s very finest living today, having studied abroad under the likes of Ken Hunt of Great Britain, Phillipe Griffnee of Belgium, the house of Creative Art, and the famous Botega Giovanelli in Italy.  THIS IS THE FINEST PEDIGREE IN THE GUNMAKER’S WORLD OF ART!  Please study the photographs and see this amazing creation.  The original creator’s dream can become yours for a very fair price without the 5-year wait it took to create this fine Fox Custom Three Barrel Set.  Thanks for looking…ENJOY!
