The "Registered pouch was carried right along with the Wells Fargo strong box and other company treasure boxes and often had more valuables than the box it's self." The bag flap is secured with a strap run through four iron loops on the front. The strap attaches on the back with a padlock. This padlock is the original lock that was attached at the origin express office and was shipped without the key to the destination office where it was opened with a duplicate key. NOTE this ORIGINAL PADLOCK & KEY are numbered to match (#81). This is a very rugged, old express bag with heavy duty rivets up and down both sides. The handle is attached with rivets. It shows age and wear but has a great look with rich coloring in an Old West style. The belt is still solid and attached to its original steel latch at the end. The leather is still pliable with no holes, breaks or tears. The stitching on the flap is tight and strong without a single stitch missing. For it's age this bag is well preserved and would provide a century of service yet. It measures about 13 inches high not including the handle, 12 inches wide. On the flap is a riveted on tag #19. There is no makers name on the bag. It was an important piece of express and postal history that you don't find everyday. The original Padlock is maked "MILLER LOCK CO. PHILA. USA" . Other items shown pictured are not included. Payment Cash, postal money order, cashiers check, personal & business checks. Can be ordered with a credit card or paypal at wxx.riverjunction, cxx just type in the number 4935 in the search box. We always answer questions and entertain offers. SOLD |
