Description:
A rare Surviving example of a Documented, Colorful, Calvary Issued, Scarce, U.S.  Contract  Smith & Wesson Model 3, American First Model Revolver..  One of "200 Nickle"  scarce and highly desirable in any condition...  this example would rate in the top 70%.    It is listed by its serial number "1947" in the STANDARD CATALOG OF SMITH & WESSON by Jim Supica & Richard Nahas as a Model 3 that was purchased by the U.S. government.   It is also lettered and Documented by Smith & Wesson Historian Roy Jinx. A small "A" ordnance sub-inspection mark is present on the left side of the frame, on top and under the cylinder, and in a cylinder flute.  The American Revolver was the first cartridge revolver adopted by the U.S. military and saw usage throughout the Indian Wars. All Original Nickle Finish that has not been cleaned  or refinished.  An extremely rare Martial
revolver.
