Antique VICTOR COLLETTE Single Shot TARGET Pistol
1870s Parlor, Saloon or Gallery Pistol
Here we present an antique Victor Collette Single Shot Pistol, made circa 1870 in Liege, Belgium. This pistol would have been used for target shooting in a shooting gallery set up in a saloon or even in someone’s parlor. This pistol is chambered in a 5.5mm Rimfire metallic cartridge. It is modestly engraved and features an 8-inch octagonal barrel. The walnut grip has a cane-like shape and feel with nice checkering. The barrel pivots down for loading with a pull of the lever located in front of the trigger guard. The maker’s initials “VC” are found on the barrel. “CROWN/N” proof marks as well as “ELG” proof mark are found on barrel and frame.
The overall condition is very good. The metal surfaces have a nice patina on it. The markings are clear and legible. The wood grips in good condition. The bore is dark with a layer of residue that should clean up well. The action on this pistol is excellent. Here is a very interesting Belgian pistol used for indoor target shooting!
