Description:
The Winchester Model 1894 Carbine is one of the most iconic American-made firearms of all time.  The lever action Winchester 94 is recognized all over the world and conjures images of the American West and the cowboy culture.  Winchester manufactured the Model 94 from 1894 to 2006, with over 5 million manufactured in many different configurations.  The most sought after examples were all made prior to 1964, when Winchester production was cheapened due to economic concerns.  This example is serial number 1625884, and was manufactured in 1948 just a few years after the end of WW2.  It is an all-original Model 94, with the exception of the sling swivels which were added after it left the factory.  This Model 94 is a one owner rifle, and we acquired it from the family of the man who bought it new.  This carbine is in very good shape overall, and is mechanically in excellent shape.  We were told that it was shot and carried very little, and from what we have seen examining the gun the condition is consistent with that information being true.  There is a great deal of the original factory blue finish still intact.  As you can see in the pictures, most of the finish wear is concentrated on the high edges and the balance point under the receiver, with some other small spots scattered about on the balance of the metalwork.  The bore in the 20" inch barrel is excellent.  It is free from pitting or erosion, and the lands and grooves in the rifling is still nice and sharp.  The original factory iron sights are still intact, with the elevator in the rear sight and the front sight hood still in place.  The factory American Walnut stock set is in excellent shape overall.  Both the forearm and buttstock are free from cracks, repairs, or any major damage.  There are some small dents/dings/scratches in the wood if you look carefully, but this is consistent with the rest of the carbine.  The original checkered and blued factory buttplate is still in place, perfectly fit and tight to the buttstock.  The action on this Winchester is excellent.  The lever works smoothly and locks up perfectly tight with no wiggle or slop.  The action feels like it could have left the factory last week.  The hammer still has the safety notch intact for safe carry with one in the chamber, and the trigger is quite good on this carbine.  If you have been looking for one of these pre-64 Winchester 94's that is nice enough to be an investment, but not too nice to take out and shoot, this carbine would be a perfect choice.
