Description:
A beautiful Charlin "Automatique" St. Etienne Sliding Breech Double Game Shotgun. SN:128xx. Ga: 12. 26 3/4" steel nitro proofed barrels with hand filed swamp rib and single bead. 2 5/8" chambers. Choked IC/F with minimum barrel wall thickness of .025"/.029" Coin finished sliding breach action (similar to Darne) with side safety lever. Nicely scroll engraved with deep chisel bolsters. Double trigger. Well figured straight grip French walnut stock and splinter forend. Gold initial over on toe line, unengraved. Stock dimensions 14 1/2" x 1 5/8" x 2 1/4" over vented pad.
Condition: Gun is in overall nice condition as partially restored. Barrels retain nearly all of their lustrous London quality re-black. Slight and subdued freckling on barrels either side of forend. Stock maintains nearly all of its original oil finish slightly dulling with age and scant handling marks. Original wood knot insert/fill on left of stock close to butt. Action is tight and fully functions. Small crack on forward center action finger that looks old and stable and does not affect function of gun.
