REVOLUTIONARY WAR FRENCH CHARLEVILLE MODEL 1766 FLINTLOCK MUSKET WITH U.S. SURCHARGE. .69 caliber 45” round smoothbore barrel. Original flintlock configuration and not a reconversion. Lock stamped to the rear of the pan with French Ordnance “CROWN/D” and engraved beneath “CHARLESVILLE”. Tail of lock stamped with large Revolutionary War era “US”. Excellent attic condition and never cleaned with original aged dark metal finish and all the original patinated finish on the stock. Has all the original screws and lock parts with the hammer an American armory replacement probably done at the Philadelphia Armory during or just after the War. Ramrod also an old original American replacement as well. Working order and good bore. Excellent original example of an original surcharged Charleville of the Revolutionary War period.
