FINE Iver Johnson Revolver w AUDLEY SAFETY HOLSTER
Leather Holster w Retention Mechanism c. 1915
Here we present an Iver Johnson Arms & Cycle Works Safety Automatic Revolver, made circa 1915 in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. This fine revolver comes complete with its original holster rig. The unique feature of this holster is the spring steel lever that locks securely into the trigger guard, keeping the revolver very stable with no movement. The markings on the back of the holster read “AUDLEY/PATENTED/OCT.13.1914”. The maker was Frank H. Audley. Once a harness and saddle maker, he transitioned to making leather police equipment and selling them in his shop at 8 Centre Market Place across from a New York City Police station.
The overall condition is fine. The original nickel finish is about 85% with 90% original blue on the trigger guard. Case colors are bright on the hammer and trigger. The markings are clear and legible. The original hard rubber grips bear the trademark Iver Johnson owl face. The bore is sharp and clean. The action is excellent. Here is a fantastic revolver rig in use during the Roaring Twenties!
