Description: Serial #311971, .38 Special, 6" tapered barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a 1909 produced revolver that has retained about 85-90% of the original high polish blue finish. There is silvering at the muzzle and along the raised edges and projections, as well as a moderate turn-ring on the cylinder, and two small chatter marks on the right side of the barrel near the muzzle. The barrel has an unusual marking not listed in the Colt book "OFFICERS' MODEL .38". The checkered trigger and hammer have much of their original bright blue remaining with the balance faded to a dull pewter gray patina. The checkered walnut grips are the original type for this period but are most likely from a different revolver. The fit is decent but not to the standard of this era Colt production. They show some wear and have some flattening of the points throughout. The lock-up and timing are still crisp and firm with a small, unobtrusive import marking on the underside of the barrel. This is an attractive pre-war Officers Model and would still be a great target gun today.
