This rifle has an 1863 dated lockplate with the barrel and bands retaining an armory bright finish with traces of brown freckling along the wood border. The receiver and breech-block have visible original case-hardening with the balance faded to a rich, plum-brown patina. The serial numbers on the barrel and receiver are matching, the breech block lock-up is tight, and the action functions flawlessly. The walnut stock has an added oil finish over lightly cleaned wood and a few scattered minor surface marks and handling blemishes, including a small repair just ahead of the comb on the left side. The “ESA" inspector cartouche is faint, but still legible, and there is a small rack number stamp on the left side: “20". The rifle comes with a correct metal ramrod and is in fine condition overall.
