Description:
Serial #1478, .44 RF, 18 1/2" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a rare American carbine, less than 200 were ever made, and uses an underlever action operating a sliding breechblock. The metal has retained about 95-97% of the original bright blue finish with only minor fading to a mellow plum-brown patina, along with traces and scattered spots of mild surface freckling throughout. The uncheckered walnut stock is in fine shape with numerous small handling marks and minor surface blemishes scattered about the lightly flaked original varnish finish. The somewhat fragile action is in excellent shape and is fully functional with tight lock-up. These are exceptionally rare guns, and this example is probably one of the best, all original specimens available in the world today. Antique
