This handsome, 1905-made revolver retains 90-92% of the original commercial polish blue finish that has silvered slightly at the muzzle, on the projecting edges, and freckled lightly in spots with some mild fading along the checkered gripstraps. The British proofed cylinder has a few small areas of minor silvering between the flutes and there are further London proofmarks on the frame, and on the barrel. The barrel itself has Metford style rifling instead which was used on the earliest .455 Target Revolvers. The hammer has spots of mild surface freckling the sides and retains most of the original fire blue while the checkered trigger has some mild fading along the inside of the curve. The checkered walnut grips are in fine-near excellent condition with some flattening of the points and some small impact marks on the butt. The lanyard swivel was removed at some point. The lock-up is tight and the action functions flawlessly. The revolver is accompanied by a 2018 dated, Colt Factory Letter that lists a shipping date May 24, 1905 to Colt's London Agency. It was one of 23 guns in the shipment, and is listed as having “Military and Bead front sight" (these are the non-adjustable target sights as required for competition at Bisley matches). This is a splendid New Service target revolver, and is still in the original .455 chambering.
