Description:
Early London built Blunderbuss. Mounted with a pre 1756 banana Daniel Browen of Waddington. This example shows a 16 1/8" brass barrel with a 1 1/4" mouth. Clear proofs and London marking. The lock is all original showing the early swan neck cock and banana plate. The side all show floral and schrol engraving typical of a commercial and privately owned piece. The wood is sound and original save the numerous worm holes that reflect its age and earlier bad storage. The barrel proofs include the barrel makers mark Jib for James Bailey the barrel maker. An early commercial blunderbuss circa 1740-50 era.
