RARE AND FINE REMINGTON KEENE U.S.I.D. INDIAN POLICE .45-70 CAL. FRONTIER CARBINE CA. 1880. One of the scarcest and most desirable Remington longarms. Less than 500 made for the United States Interior Department for use by their Indian Police. 24” barrel round barrel. Top of bolt stamped with Remington address and the Remington-Keene 1874, 1876 and 1877 patent dates. 100% original and in fine to excellent condition ours is stamped on the left side of the receiver “U.S.I.D. 127” and Government inspected and proofed on top of the ring “P/W.W.K.” with Henry Nettleton’s Sub Inspector’s “HN” stamp on left side of the barrel and ring as well. 80-90% blue overall with hammer still retaining some greyish case hardening. Stock with the original finish and a nice handling patina. Perfect working order and excellent bore. One of the finest Indian Police Remington-Keene’s we know of with most found in heavily used condition. Seldom seen for sale.
