Description:
SOLD..Antique 1892 Winchester 38-40 Caliber with octagon barrel. This is a very honest antique 1892 Winchester. Has the standard 24” octagon barrel. It is in the great shooting 38-40 caliber. S/N 32632 and made in 1893. The bore is good with strong rifling with the normal black powder roughness. NO rings or bulges. I test fired it with factory ultramax cowboy loads and it shoots great and very accurate. It feeds, fires and ejects perfectly and the action is smooth as glass. The gun is a dark brown to medium brown patina. Nice and smooth metal also.. Still has the original front and rear sights. All the markings are excellent. Has the early correct heart shaped hammer knurling. Both hammer notches are perfect and positive. The wood is nice and never sanded on or messed with. Still fits tight and full to the metal. The forearm has no splits or cracks and fits tight and full. Very minor dings and scratches from honest use. The butt stock fits tight and full also. Has some dings and a deeper scratch about two inches long on the right side as you can see. No splits or cracks and is tight and full and never sanded on or messed with. Pretty nice wood on this one and not oil soaked and beat up like most of these no finish guns will show. All the screw heads are sharp and not burred up from tinkering and some still have 100 year old grease and crud around them so this gun has not been messed with or abused. This is a nice and completely honest ole 92 that shows honest wear with no abuse. These antique 92's are getting harder to find that have not been messed with at reasonable prices. AND it still functions and shoots just the way it is suppose to with no issues. About all I can say about this one. Don't miss it....
