Description:
American Dragoon Pistol
(Dating to the American Revolution)

A rare Revolutionary War Dragoon Pistol probably made by an American Gunsmith and was originally a flintlock. The Dragoon is beleived to be stocked in  American Butternut using early pattern 1720 grip cap, a pattern 1750 British Dragoon trigger guard and side plate, British lock marked  with Crown over JG, British 1750 pattern wrist escutcheon, gunsmith made brass ramrod pipes and nose cap and an applied front sight probably added when it was converted to perscussion. There are no marking or proof marks on the top or bottom of the barrel indicating it is probably an American made barrel. The pistol was originally a flintlock that was converted to percussion with it original ramrod with a gunsmith made brass tip. Probably converted for use in the Civil War

The condition is very good with much of its original patina however it does have a minor crack at the wrist. 18th century weapons by an American Gunsmith were usually made using mixed parts from other firearms as parts were difficult to come by during the 18th century and especially during the American Revolution.

I choose to not convert it to flint, however this is a great early dragoon pistol worthy of conversion.
