Description:
This was Colt's very first solid frame cartridge revolver ever produced by this famous firm.  It was introduced in 1871, two years before the Single Action Army.  The four shot cylinder resembles a four-leaf clover and is certainly one of the most unusual looking revolvers.  This example was made in 1873, has a 3.5 barrel and fires the .41 rimfire cartridge.  The brass frame retains 50% of it's silver plating and the barrel retains about 75% of the original blue.  The Walnut grips are also in very good condition with a lot of the original varnish still present.  This House Pistol still functions perfectly, it's "in time" and locks up at full cock.  This Colt comes in a period correct antique wooden case that is in excellent condition as well.  As you can see in the pictures, it is quite attractive and is structurally perfect.  The case contains an old partial box of .41 rimfire cartridges by Remington UMC that fits perfectly in one of the built-in compartments.  The lid of the wooden case has a brass plate attached to it with the name "Lolly" scratched into it.  There were only about 7500 of these Colt's House Pistols manufactured with the four shot "cloverleaf" cylinder, and they are one of the most unique looking Colt revolvers ever made.  Very seldom are these revolvers encountered on the market in any condition, much less as nice as this one complete with a period fitted wooden case.  With this being Colt's first production solid frame cartridge revolver ever designed, it would be a perfect addition to any Colt or antique firearm collection and quite the conversation piece.
